Our Lineage

Grandmaster Moy Yat was more than one of "the greatest martial arts teachers of all-time" as Inside Kung-Fu Magazine described him. He was the quintessential Renaissance man: a published author, a renowned painter, a Chinese seal maker, and a Grandmaster Ving Tsun practioner. Moy Yat began learning Ving Tsun from Grandmaster Ip Man in 1957 and lived the "kung fu life" with his master for 15 years. Only when Ip Man passed away in 1972, did Moy Yat then immigrate to New York City in 1973 to spread Ving Tsun to the United  States. In 2008 Moy Yat was honored in the Chinese Wushi Treasure Stamps Album as one of the greatest Wushu practitioners of all time. Grandmaster Moy Yee began studying with Moy Yat at age 13 while they both lived in Hong Kong, and their relationship continued in the United States for over 40 years.
